Since 1976 Guth Laboratories, Inc. has been servicing equipment and supplying standards and accessories for alcohol breath testing to law enforcement agencies. During the late seventies and early eighties, we supplied the test kits required for the Borkenstein Breathalyzer® Model 900 and 900A. It was our work with these instruments and other early breath testers that demonstrated the need for a more reliable simulator and solution standard. This led to the development by Guth of the first solid-state temperature controlled simulator the Guth 34C.

Since this time from our plant located in Harrisburg Pennsylvania, we have supplied simulators and products to agencies around the world. We have become known for our family of quality simulators the Guth Model 10-4, 10-4D, 34C, 2100, and 590 the first 12-volt portable simulator. The other key component of a valid simulator test is the simulator solution. Guth Laboratories has always provided a complete line of NIST traceable solutions for the simulator in concentrations of .02, .04, .05, .08, .10, .15, .20, and .30.

During the mid nineties Guth Laboratories began to produce and build fuel cells for several foreign manufacturers. We are now offering our own line of hand held breath testers under the trade name Alcotector®. This line is developing quickly and we will have several new models ready for field-testing at the beginning of 2009.

Other new products coming from Guth Laboratories include a new simulator that will offer innovations that provide safe guards not currently available in any digital simulator on the market while reducing the initial costs of the simulator itself. The simulator will allow multiple power sources and maintain the 500ml fill that the industry is familiar with using.

Guth Laboratories is now offering dry gas to those agencies that are using gas as their standard of choice or for their PBT calibration program. Cylinders, valves and other supplies will be available in various concentrations and cylinder sizes. Corrected and uncorrected gas values are available. We will offer a refillable cylinder that will end the need to drill empty cylinders for disposal in a landfill. This will aid customers in meeting their stay green environmental programs and reduce the strain on the environment. All our gas standards will be traceable to N.I.S.T. NTRM ethanol standards. These gas standards are being prepared in an ASCLAD 17025 registered gas production facility.

It is an exciting time at Guth as we revamp our sales efforts for our new product offerings. Part of this revamp will be a web site redesign to offer secure online ordering and provide information updates on our new products and services. Please be sure to watch for these changes.
